Conceptual Drilling Design

About this Unit

Unit Description

Integral to the Well Concept step in field development, Conceptual Drilling Design incorporates the boundary conditions of the Reservoir Characterization and assists an engineering team in understanding exactly what is possible in field development and, more importantly, what is optimal. Conventional development wells can vary considerably depending on the reservoir of interest and its characteristics. Applying appropriate drilling design techniques that are bound by the Reservoir Characterization early in the Well Concept stage of field development will potentially save design time and almost surely result in optimal recovery in the long run.
