Shale – Well Performance Evaluation

About this Unit

Unit Description

Once the first wells have been drilled, appraisal begins. Accurate interpretation of the Well Performance data in the early stages of development is key to further optimization. The reservoir characterization that was done in the first step of IPO can now be honed by collaborating the production data with the geologic model. The flexibility that was designed in the concept stages can be reduced accordingly and well and fracture placement can be optimized so that optimal recoveries and savings can be realized. It is important to realize that Well Performance Evaluation will continue through the whole life of the project right up to the point of abandonment. At the very least, this data will be used annually to book and or review reserve estimates that will have a direct impact on share price and the indication of a company’s success.
